E.P. Carrillo has informed its retailers that the company will be implementing a price increase for some of its lines next month, while also announcing that three of its lines are going on hiatus.

The increase works out to about five percent when averaged out among the lines being affected, though several are not seeing any increase. The company isn’t changing the pricing on its Inch Natural, Inch Maduro and Encore lines, while a pair of recently released vitolas, the Pledge Apogee and La Historia Parientes, will also hold their current price. In a letter to retailers, the company attributed the need for the increase to “ever-increasing costs to manufacture our products.”

The increase will go into effect on Feb. 15.

Additionally, the company has announced that it is putting its Capa del Sol, New Wave Reserva and Selección Oscuro lines on hiatus due to production constraints. While the lines are not being fully discontinued, they will not be available for retailers to order for the foreseeable future.

The following chart is a live look at what companies have announced price increases or no price increase for 2022.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
