La Sirena Cigars has begun to inform its retailers that it will be implementing a price increase on the majority of its portfolio as of April 15. The increase, which works about to about 5 percent, will apply to the La Sirena Original, La Sirena LT and La Sirena Oceano, while the recently released Mexican Mermaid will not be seeing its price change.

Danny Ditkowich of La Sirena told halfwheel that he was finally forced to raise prices after absorbing increasing costs in production, packaging and shipping. He said he was hit with another round of increases recently from his suppliers and can no longer absorb them. Earlier this year, he told halfwheel he was not planning on needing to implement an increase, though that thought has since changed.

Specifically, he said that the increases have touched nearly every aspect of the cigar making process, from the raw tobacco to the production process, as well as boxes and packaging, as well as the shipping costs to get the cigars from the factory to his warehouse.

The following chart is a live look at what companies have announced price increases or no price increase for 2022.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
