Arturo Fuente will increase the prices of its cigars on Jan. 12, 2022.

“Our unwavering commitment to our employees and the quality of our products is second-to-none,” said Carlos “Carlito” Fuente Jr., chairman of Arturo Fuente, in a press release. “We therefore must take this step – which we do not take lightly – so we can continue providing our customers the highest-quality cigars at the fairest prices and be able to assist the thousands of people that are directly and indirectly responsible for producing the world’s finest cigars.”

Update (Jan. 6, 2022) — Arturo Fuente has clarified that some of the price increases for the U.S. market were not calculated properly. A further update is coming that might change some of the information below.

The press release said that “unprecedented inflation and overall economic hardship during the pandemic has impacted so many crucial areas in the supply chain that costs have exponentially skyrocketed.”

Most of the core Arturo Fuentes are increasing between 5-6 percent, those include Chateau, Don Carlos. Especiales and Rosado.

Casa Cuba and Montesino are increasing by 4 percent per SKU with the exception of the Casa Double Dos, which is listed at $8.90 MSRP, $1 less than previously; and Double Tres, which is increasing by just 2 percent.

Most Hemingway vitolas are increasing by 5 percent, but some sizes like Classic, Short Story and Signature are increasing between 7-10 percent. The Short Story Maduro and Signature Maduro are also increasing at those percentages, though the Classic Maduro appears to only be a 5 percent hike. Rare Pink Vintage 1960’s is increasing by 6 percent.

Arturo Fuente Añejo will increase by 7 percent. Fuente Fuente OpusX and OpusX 20th Anniversary, Angel’s Share, ForbiddenX and Oro Oscuro, as well as Don Arturo Destino al Siglo are increasing by 8 percent.

That means the new MSRPs for OpusX vitolas are:

  • Fuente Fuente OpusX Belicoso XXX (5 5/8 x 49) — $13
  • Fuente Fuente OpusX Double Corona (7 5/8 x 49) — $20.15
  • Fuente Fuente OpusX Double Robusto (5 3/4 x 52) — $17.45
  • Fuente Fuente OpusX Fuente Fuente (5 5/8 x 46) — $13.75
  • Fuente Fuente OpusX Love Affair (5 1/2 x 52/49) — $13.60
  • Fuente Fuente OpusX PerfecXion A (9 1/4 x 47) — $31.25
  • Fuente Fuente OpusX PerfecXion X (6 1/4 x 49) — $16.60
  • Fuente Fuente OpusX PerfecXion #2 (6 3/8 x 52) — $18.35
  • Fuente Fuente OpusX PerfecXion #4 (5 1/8 x 43) — $12.85
  • Fuente Fuente OpusX PerfecXion #5 (4 7/8 x 40) — $11.85
  • Fuente Fuente OpusX Petit Lancero (6 1/4 x 49) — $14.15
  • Fuente Fuente OpusX Reserva D’Chateau (7 x 48) — $17.75
  • Fuente Fuente OpusX Robusto (5 1/4 x 50) — $15.45
  • Fuente Fuente OpusX Super Belicoso (5 1/2 x 52) — $16.55
  • Fuente Fuente OpusX PerfecXion No. 77 Shark (5 1/2 x 52) — $18.35
  • Fuente Fuente OpusX Magnum O (4 3/4 x 56) — $16.90
  • Fuente Fuente OpusX PerfecXion 888 (6 7/8 x 44) — $15.65

Somewhat confusingly, Fuente’s price list shows the price of OpusX tins decreasing by 2-3 percent compared to the 2020 price list.

Between now and Feb. 1, 2022, many companies are expected to announce and implement price increases. Some have begun the process of informing retailers that increases are coming, but many have not disclosed the details of the pricing adjustments.

The following chart is a live look at what companies have announced price increases or no price increase for 2022.

Update (Dec. 31, 2021) — The original version of this headline contained a typo. The price increases are for 2022, not 2021.
