Casa Cuevas has informed its retailers and brokers that it will be implementing a price increase on its catalog during the first week of February.

It’s an increase of 4 percent across the board, which Luis Cuevas Jr. told halfwheel was necessary to simply keep up with increasing costs in several areas. “The price of everything has gone up,” he said.

In an e-mail to retailers, the company said that the need for an increase was attributable to increasing costs for labor, shipping product to the company’s warehouse, as well as the cost of natural tobacco.

He did add that the company is implementing the increase in February in order to give retailers who attend the 2022 Tobacco Plus Expo in late January an opportunity to put in orders before the increase goes into effect. The company also noted that this is the first time since 2019 that it has made the decision to raise prices across the board.

The following chart is a live look at which companies have announced either a price increase or no price increase for 2022.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
