Paul Garmirian Cigars has announced that it has implemented a price increase on the bulk of its cigar portfolio.

The company said that on the whole it is a 6 percent increase, which is being attributed to increasing production costs, including higher costs in tobacco and labor, as well as higher packaging and materials costs.

Not every line will see its pricing increase, as the company opted not to raise the price on the PG Private Reserve and Family Reserve lines since they are already priced at a premium level.

The Private Reserve is a group of cigars from Paul Garmirian’s private collection that date back to 1991 which are shared with the company’s top accounts. The Family Reserve started in 2003 when Davidoff bought the remaining 51 percent of Tabadom, which is where Paul Garmirian Cigars’s were being made. Garmirian packaged the seven-year-aged Celebration line that had been rolled in 1996, as well as the six-year-aged No. 2 that had been rolled in 1997. As Kevork Garmirian told halfwheel, it was the staff at Tabadom that suggested they care for the cigars “like family,” and thus the collection was born.

Additionally, the company added some vintage year items to the Private Reserve, with the company defining a vintage cigar as anything that has eclipsed the 10-year mark since it was rolled. Those cigars are recognizable by the boxes having a handwritten note indicating the year in which they were rolled.

The increase went into effect on March 15.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
