Later this year, Powstanie will add 5 1/2 x 46 coronas to its two current core lines: Powstanie Broadleaf and Powstanie Habano. Mike Szczepankewicz, Powstanie’s co-founder, told halfwheel that the company has not finalized a release date for the Coronas.

Powstanie has finalized a major price increase, which will go into effect next week. Unlike most cigar companies, Powstanie has generally not increased prices on an annual basis. Its most recent price increase was in 2021, but most of its cigars by roughly 3 percent since the company launched in 2015.

The average increase between the Powstanie Broadleaf and Powstanie Habano amounts to 26.7 percent, ranging from 16.67-31.6 percent. Had the company increased prices annually over the last seven years, the increases would equate to about 2.6-4.7 percent price increases annually.

Pricing for the cigars is as follows:

  • Powstanie Broadleaf Perfecto (5 x 50) — $12.70
  • Powstanie Broadleaf Robusto (5 x 50) — $ 12.70
  • Powstanie Broadleaf Belicoso (5 1/2 x 54) — $13
  • Powstanie Broadleaf Toro (6 x 52) — $13.30
  • Powstanie Habano Perfecto (5 x 50) — $12.10
  • Powstanie Habano Robusto (5 x 50) — $ 12.10
  • Powstanie Habano Belicoso (5 1/2 x 54) — $12.90
  • Powstanie Habano Toro (6 x 52) — $13.10

The new pricing will go into effect on Feb. 13, 2023.

It is widely expected that most cigar companies will be increasing prices in or around early 2023, most of which are likely to be announced in the first quarter of the year as that is when most companies traditionally make these announcements. Reasons for these increases include increased costs for tobacco and packaging, increased competition for labor, general inflation, and mirroring competitors’ price adjustments.

The following chart looks at what companies have announced price increases or no price increases for 2023.
