Maya Selva Cigars Raises Prices Due To Increased Manufacturing Costs
Maya Selva Cigars is the latest company to announce that it has had to implement a price increase as a result of the rising costs of producing and shipping premium cigars.
The company did not disclose specifics of the increases, but a representative said that the increases are between 3 and 5 percent across the company’s portfolio, which includes the Flor de Selva, Cumpay, and Villa Zamorano brands. That representative also indicated that the price increase is “quite less than the real increase in general to everything that involves the process of manufacturing cigars and putting them in the market.”
The company said there were many factors that led to the need to raise prices, including significant increases in the price of tobacco and other materials, labor force, logistics and transportation.
“Increasing prices is never the intent, and so we put our best effort to keep it as low as possible for the aficionado,” the representative told halfwheel.
The price increases went into effect on February 1.
