halfwheel extends its congratulations to Marty Faust, who has retired after 43 years in the cigar business. Faust has been the vp of field sales for Colibri since October 2015, and has previously worked for Altadis USA and Havatampa. Marty is one of the friendly faces I have seen at numerous trade shows, who is always willing to take time to talk and make you feel like you’re the most important person he’ll talk to that day. FDA Premium Cigar Lawsuit Appeal Delayed Again

In a week dominated by stories from the 2024 PCA Convention & Trade Show, a bit of FDA news came out, as Michael Edney—the cigar industry’s lead attorney in this case—requested the court delay the schedule two additional weeks. That’s because the Virginia Solicitor General’s Office indicated that it—and other states—were planning to file briefs in support of the cigar industry side.

For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
