In 1995, Arturo Fuente introduced one of the most iconic cigars of all-time: Fuente Fuente OpusX.

As it did for the brand’s 20th anniversary, the company introduced a new version of OpusX to honor the 25th anniversary of the line. Unlike the 20th Anniversary cigar, which is sold by Fuente at stores worldwide, the OpusX 25 was originally only sold by Elie Bleu, the French accessory company. Elie Bleu created two special humidor models to celebrate the anniversary and the cigars were only offered inside of those humidors. Given the limited nature of the humidors—and the $9,250 price tag of the least expensive of the humidors—very few people have smoked the OpusX 25.

Since then, the OpusX 25 has been featured in a few limited edition, high-priced samplers, but it appears that Arturo Fuente is nearing the release of standalone boxes of the OpusX 25. At this past week’s 2024 PCA Convention & Trade Show, the company showed off a perfecto vitola of OpusX 25, with new boxes and the cigars packaged in coffins.

Of note, these boxes are different than the ones that were sold by Elie Bleu. If you purchased a humidor, you received 25 cigars that were packaged in a box like the one pictured above. Those cigars did not come in coffins.

The company declined to talk details about the cigar, though indications were the plan is to have the OpusX 25 perfecto go on sale this year.

Arturo Fuente never disclosed the blend of the OpusX 25. In the past, it has hinted that it would eventually sell more of the cigars, though the 7 x 50 Churchill size that was released via the Elie Bleu humidors is unlikely to be one of those sizes.
