For more than two years, Davidoff’s AVO brand has been working with D-Nice, a famous hip-hop DJ. In April, the results of this collaboration will go on sale.

The cigar’s name has been known since last year: the AVO Expressions Limited Edition 2024. As for the details, it’s a 6 1/2 x 50 toro extra that has a wrapper from Ecuador, a binder from Mexico and fillers from the Dominican Republic and the U.S. One of those fillers tobaccos was aged in spent bourbon barrels, which the company says adds a caramel note to the profile.

Each cigar has an MSRP of $18 and production is limited to 6,900 boxes of 15 cigars. The Expressions Limited Edition 2024 is scheduled to arrive in stores on April 18. It will ship to stores internationally on June 6.

Update (April 18, 2024) — As expected, the cigar has gone on sale in the U.S.

“We are proud to introduce the AVO Expressions Limited Edition 2024,” said Edward Simon, chief marketing officer at Oettinger Davidoff AG, in a press release. “This latest offering is a testament to our brand’s philosophy of marrying the art of cigar making with creative flavour profiles. It is a tribute to the artistic expression and innovation at the heart of AVO Cigars. AVO Expressions with its harmonious blend is a must-try for both long-time fans and new explorers of the AVO Cigars journey.”

Born Derrick T. Jones, D-Nice gained fame in the 1980s as part of Boogie Down Productions, the hip-hop trio that consisted of D-Nice, KRS-One and Scott La Rock. In recent times, he gained notoriety for Homeschool at Club Quarantine DJ sessions he hosted on Instagram Live during the early days of the COVID-19 lockdown. In addition to his work as a DJ, D-Nice has also become a noted photographer.

The AVO brand has had a strong association with music since it was founded by the late Avo Uvezian, a noted pianist and composer. Over the years, Davidoff has used music as a theme for various AVO releases.

Update (March 28, 2024) — Davidoff of Geneva USA has since clarified that it will begin selling the cigars in April, while the June 6 date mentioned in the press release applies to international markets. The story and headline have been updated.
