During next week’s TPE 2024 trade show, United Cigars will show off the newest incarnation in a long line of Firecracker blends.

The Firecracker Connecticut is made with a shade-grown Connecticut-seed wrapper from Ecuador covering a binder and fillers sourced from the Dominican Republic. As with other Firecracker cigars, it is a 3 1/2 x 50 parejo with a long pigtail made to mimic the fuse of a firework.

The Firecracker Connecticut is being made at the Tabacalera Magia Cubana factory in Santiago, Dominican Republic. It will be packaged in boxes of 25, while the MSRP is set at $6 per cigar.

“The United Firecracker Connecticut is a beautiful addition,” said Oliver Nivaud, director of operations for United Cigars, in a press release. “This Connecticut Firecracker surprised me during the blending process, the final blend represents the line perfectly.”

Like the rest of the Firecracker cigars, it will be sold by United Cigars to stores nationwide, though the roots of the line date back to 2007 and Two Guys Smoke Shop, a New Hampshire-based chain of retailers owned by Dave Garofalo, who also owns United Cigars. The Firecracker cigars are typically a 3 1/2 x 50 petit robusto that features a long pigtail. Over the years, various manufacturers have made Firecracker Series, including All Saints, Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust, E.P. Carrillo, El Artista, Fratello, Kristoff, La Flor Dominicana, My Father, Perdomo, RoMa Craft Tobac, Rojas Cigars, Selected Tobacco and Tatuaje.

The Firecracker Connecticut is one of a handful of blends United Cigars has created just for the Firecracker Series, a list that includes the Firecracker Sun Grown and the Firecracker Maduro, the latter of which was previously known as the Firecracker Black Bomb. Unlike the cigars from other manufacturers, these cigars are often regular production items offered to retailers year-round.

This is the second new Firecracker cigar to be announced within the last five days. On Saturday, it was announced that the JFR Lunatic Loco Firecracker would be released in June.

United Cigars says it will take orders for the cigar at next week’s 2024 TPE trade show, which takes place Jan. 31-Feb. 2 in Las Vegas, and that the company will begin shipping the Firecracker Connecticut in April.

I have been smoking cigars for over eight years. A documentary wedding photographer by trade, I spent seven years as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I started the cigar blog SmokingStogie in 2008 after realizing that there was a need for a cigar blog with better photographs and more in-depth information about each release. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars. I am a co-founder of halfwheel and now serve as an editor for halfwheel.
