The next installment in United Cigars’ Firecracker Series will come from AGANORSA Leaf’s JFR Lunatic Loco line.

In keeping with the tradition of previous cigars, the Lunatic Loco Firecracker will come in a 3 1/2 x 50 petit robusto vitola that adds a long twist of tobacco coming from the head that is designed to replicate the fuse found on a firecracker. The blend features a Nicaraguan shade-grown corojo maduro wrapper, while the binder and filler come from AGANORSA’s farms in Jalapa and Estelí and feature corojo 99 and criollo 98 tobacco.

“The Lunatic Firecracker is a true celebration of the artistry and dedication that both United Cigars and Aganorsa Leaf bring to the industry,” said Terence Reilly, vice president of sales and marketing for AGANORSA Leaf, in a press release. “This limited edition is a winner with its unique blend and distinctive smoking experience.”

The cigars are produced at the Aganorsa Factory in Estelí, Nicaragua and come with an MSRP of $7.50 per cigar and $150 for a box of 20 cigars. The project is described as a limited production, but the number of cigars produced has not yet been disclosed.

“The Lunatic Firecracker represents a beautiful partnership between United Cigars and Aganorsa Leaf,” said Oliver Nivaud, director of operations for United Cigars, via a press release. “Let’s light up the skies this Fourth of July with the Lunatic Firecracker.”

The cigars are expected to arrive on store shelves in June ahead of the July 4th holiday.

Aganorsa Leaf joins a long list of manufacturers to produce cigars for United Cigars’ Firecracker Series, including Foundation Cigar Co., Perdomo, Fratello, E.P. Carrillo, Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust and several others. Additionally, Firecracker releases have been produced for St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo and the start of baseball season.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
