The Kristoff TAA Exclusive 2023, a 6 1/4 x 60 vitola that the company calls a “cut perfecto,” has begun arriving at retail members of the Tobacconists’ Association of America.

The blend features an Ecuadorian shade-grown wrapper over a binder from Nicaragua and four Dominican fillers. Like many Kristoff cigars, it is being made at Tabacalera von Eicken, the factory formerly known as Charles Fairmorn.

“The TAA Exclusive redefines the meaning of a full-flavored, mild cigar,” said Glen Case, Kristoff’s founder, in an email to halfwheel when the cigar was announced in March. “Made with a pristine Ecuadorian shade grown wrapper, this cigar delivers notes of vanilla, delicate notes of spice, cream and a sweet nutty finish.”

Like many releases for the TAA’s Exclusive Series Program, production of the Kristoff TAA Exclusive TAA 2023 is limited, with just 1,000 boxes of 20 cigars produced. Individual cigars are priced at $13.

Kristoff is one of nearly 20 companies who created exclusive cigars or products for the TAA this year, a group of manufacturers that includes CLECrowned Heads, Ferio Tego, Forged Cigar Co., General Cigar Co.Gurkha, J.C. NewmanJoya de Nicaragua, La Palina, Miami Cigar & Co.My Father, PlasenciaRocky Patel, Quality Importers Trading Co., Quesada, Tatuaje and Villiger Cigars North America have created releases for the TAA this year.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
