The Ferio Tego Timeless TAA is back for another year.
Like last year’s release, the Ferio Tego Timeless TAA 2023 is a 6 x 50 toro made entirely of Nicaraguan tobaccos at Plasencia Cigars S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua. This year, the company is providing more information about the blend.
“The 2023 blend is in line with the 2022 release, a dense and intense Nicaraguan puro that incorporates aged long-filler tobaccos from the Jalapa region of Nicaragua with a gorgeous wrapper grown in Esteli”, said Michael Herklots, co-founder of Ferio Tego, in a press release. “It is a blend that is complex and assertive and is deliberate in its development from start to finish creating very well-balanced and highly engaging experience.”
Compared to the 2022 release, the company has increased the price to $16.50 per cigar—up from $15—and is making 800 bundles of 10 cigars, up from 700 bundles last year. While this is the second year of the Ferio Tego Timeless TAA, the cigar’s roots date back to the Nat Sherman Timeless TAA 2020. Herklots and Brendon Scott—two former Nat Sherman employees—bought the rights to the Nat Sherman cigar brands from Altria, though they did not buy the Nat Sherman name. The pair has brought most of the old Nat Sherman back under the Ferio Tego name.
Ferio Tego says the Timeless TAA 2023 should arrive at stores in April.
The Tobacconists’ Association of America (TAA) is a membership group, which also includes approximately 40 manufacturers, that gathers annually to discuss issues facing the industry and retailers, as well as to have its annual trade show, a unique event that works on a group buying format in order to secure exclusive deals for these generally high-volume merchants.
During the event—which takes place March 26-30 at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic—the organization holds two selling events, one known as the Dream Machine where the retailers collectively order to secure larger discounts, while the other is a more traditional trade show. Typically, around a dozen manufacturers release new exclusive cigars for the retail members of the organization under the TAA Exclusive Series Program banner. Those manufacturers agree to give a portion of the proceeds to the organization, a minimum of 50 cents per cigar.
So far, CLE, Crowned Heads, Ferio Tego, Gurkha, Miami Cigar & Co., My Father, Tatuaje and Villiger Cigars North America have announced their TAA 2023 releases.
Ferio Tego is distributed by Davidoff of Geneva USA.
