If you’d like to smoke the first 12 Davidoff Zodiac Cigars, you might be able to do so via a new sampler that will arrive this spring. Davidoff has announced the upcoming release of the Davidoff The Year of Collector’s Edition, a 96-cigar sampler made up of the 12 main Davidoff Zodiac Series cigars.

The sampler contains 12 trays, each tray holding eight cigars selected from the following:

  1. Davidoff Limited Edition 2013 Year of the Snake (7 x 48)
  2. Davidoff Limited Edition 2014 Year of the Horse (6 x 60)
  3. Davidoff Limited Edition 2015 Year of the Sheep (6 1/2 x 54)
  4. Davidoff Limited Edition 2016 Year of the Monkey (6 1/2 x 50)
  5. Davidoff Limited Edition 2017 Year of the Rooster (6 3/4 x 50)
  6. Davidoff Limited Edition 2018 Year of the Dog (7 x 50)
  7. Davidoff Limited Edition 2019 Year of the Pig (6 x 56)
  8. Davidoff Limited Edition 2020 Year of the Rat (6 x 52)
  9. Davidoff Limited Edition 2021 Year of the Ox (6 x 60)
  10. Davidoff Limited Edition 2022 Year of the Tiger (5 x 52)
  11. Davidoff Limited Edition 2023 Year of the Rabbit (5 15/16 x 54)
  12. Davidoff Limited Edition 2024 Year of the Dragon (7 1/2 x 50)

Davidoff has not announced pricing for this release, though it has said it is limited to just 100 boxes, which will be sold at the Davidoff of Geneva — since 1911 flagship stores in Geneva, Hong Kong and New York City.

“Each zodiac sign has its own distinctive and fascinating character traits, which we translated into our packaging design and our cigars’ formats and tasting notes. In the same way that larger zodiac signs such as the Horse, the Ox or the Dragon have led to the creation of generously sized cigars, the Rabbit perfecto cigar discloses its depth and complexity slowly – just like the Rabbit reveals its character gradually,” said Edward Simon, cmo at Oettinger Davidoff, in a press release. “With these editions, we have been able to offer our aficionados a seamless journey that reflects the zodiac sign from opening the box to enjoying the special cigar. I am thrilled that we can now bring our combined expertise from the past twelve years to a select few in a collection that takes craftsmanship and packaging design to a new level.”

Since late 2012, Davidoff has celebrated the upcoming Chinese New Year by releasing a new limited edition cigar named after the symbol on the zodiac calendar. Each release has been a different size, different blend and has come in different packaging, though red and gold colors have been used prominently. Chinese New Year begins Feb. 10, ringing in the Year of the Dragon.

Not included in the sampler are cigars like the original Zodiac cigar, the Cuvée Selection 2012 Year of the Dragon, which was released to Asian markets in 2011 before the series began in earnest. Furthermore, the exclusive humidor and flagship editions of the Tiger, Rabbit and Dragon are not included in the sampler. Davidoff has not stated whether these cigars are from the original production runs or whether these cigars were made specifically for this Collector’s Edition release.

Davidoff says the square trays that hold the cigars were inspired by trays used during a traditional Chinese tea ceremony and that when the trays are stacked on top of each other, the combined look is designed to mimic a pagoda
