Add JM Tobacco to the growing number of manufacturers that have announced Year of the Dragon-themed cigars to celebrate the Chinese Zodiac calendar.

Next month, during the 2024 PCA Convention & Trade Show, the company will begin selling the Española Year of the Dragon, a 6 x 50 toro composed of an Ecuadorian corojo habano wrapper covering a Connecticut broadleaf binder and a filler blend of tobaccos from the Dominican Republic and Mexico’s San Andrés Valley.

The MSRP is set at $13 for each cigar or $150 for each box. Only 500 24-count boxes of the new limited edition will be released to retailers worldwide.

“We are thrilled to bring the 2024 Year of the Dragon cigar to our discerning customers in a limited edition of 500 boxes worldwide,” said Anto Mahroukian, president of JM Tobacco, in a press release. “This release signifies our dedication to providing aficionados with a unique and extraordinary smoking experience, marking the Year of the Dragon in true JM Tobacco fashion.”

The new cigars are being made at the Tabacalera Turey S.A. factory located in Santiago, Dominican Republic.

Various other manufacturers have also announced or released Year of the Dragon-themed cigars, including Davidoff, General Cigar Co., Gurkha, Habanos S.A., La GaleraOliva, Maya Selva, Plasencia, Rocky Patel, United Cigars, and Vega Fina.

According to Mahroukian, boxes of the Española Year of the Dragon are scheduled to begin shipping to retailers on April 1, 2024.

I have been smoking cigars for over eight years. A documentary wedding photographer by trade, I spent seven years as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I started the cigar blog SmokingStogie in 2008 after realizing that there was a need for a cigar blog with better photographs and more in-depth information about each release. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars. I am a co-founder of halfwheel and now serve as an editor for halfwheel.
