Habanos S.A. Details Cohiba 55th Anniversary Celebration for Sept. 7-9

Habanos S.A. has publicly announced more details regarding its Cohiba 55th Anniversary celebration in September.

It will be a three-day event—technically there is a fourth day for members of the media—that will take place on Sept 7-9, 2022 in Havana, Cuba. Previously, the company had confirmed a gala evening for Friday, Sept. 9 but not the other days:

• Sept. 7 (Wednesday) — Welcome Evening, El Laguito Protocol Room
• Sept. 8 (Thursday) — Visit to El Laguito factory, the primary factory for Cohiba and Trinidad
• Sept. 9 (Friday) — Gala Dinner & Humidor Auction at Pabexpo Fairgrounds

There’s also a private event on Sept. 6 for media.

Like the company’s annual Festival del Habano, a larger event held in February, the week will be capped off by an auction of “very special humidors,” with proceeds donated to the Cuban health system. The last humidor auction, held during the 2020 Festival del Habano, generated €4.27 million ($4.71 million at the time), more than half of which was for a Cohiba humidor.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Habanos S.A. has not held a humidor auction since then, that said, it previewed a special Cohiba 55 anniversary humidor last year.

Habanos S.A. says that it expects around 1,000 people at the welcome evening. Ticketing information has not been provided, though sources have previously told halfwheel that Habanos S.A.’s distributors have already sold tickets to customers. An email sent to Habanos S.A. seeking more information about tickets and pricing was not immediately returned.
