E.P. Carrillo has informed its retailers that it will be implementing a price increase in early February as it looks to keep up with rising costs to make its cigars.

“We strive to balance the value of our cigars to both the retailer and consumer, along with the ever-increasing costs to manufacture our product for everyone,” the company wrote in a letter announcing the increase. “We also feel it is best to keep our prices firm and stable, for as long as possible, before taking an increase that has become necessary this coming year. Lastly, it is important that we share with you the fact that some prices at the manufacturing end, are higher as a percent increase, and we chose to absorb those extra costs as part of our commitment to bringing you the absolute best cigars at the absolute best price.”

The company did not include guidance as to just how much the increases are, but a comparison between the company’s 2023 and 2024 price lists indicates increases between 5 and 75 cents for the majority of the company’s portfolio, though not every cigar is going up. For instance, the Encore by Perez-Carrillo line is seeing one of the smaller increases, with the Valientes and El Primero vitolas remaining unchanged, while the Majestic is going up 10 cents and the Celestial and El Futuro are going up by 25 cents in their MSRPs.

The biggest increases are found in the Allegiance line, with the Wingman and Chaperone vitolas going up by 75 cents, while the Sidekick vitola is going up by 50 cents and the Confidant is increasing by 40 cents.

The increase is set to go into effect on Feb. 5.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
