For this year’s Thanksgiving-themed releases, Viaje has announced that this week, it will be releasing the Farmhand Andre and Zombie Farmhand Andre.

Both are cigars that have previously been released; the Farmhand Andre debuted in 2019 as an offshoot of, or possibly a companion to, the Farmer Bill Hatchet, that debuted in 2014 and which ties into the cigar’s backstory. According to the company, Farmhand Andre helps Farmer Bill Hatchet prepare the turkey-themed cigars that are usually part of Viaje’s Thanksgiving-themed releases. Like the Farmer Bill Hatchet, the Farmhand Andre debuted in a 7 x 52 double robusto vitola with an undisclosed blend and factory of origin. Pricing for that initial release was $11.60 per cigar and $116 for a box of 10 cigars.

The other cigar, the Zombie Farmhand Andre, is another offshoot that debuted in May 2020, well before the Thanksgiving holiday. As the name implies, it borrows from the company’s Zombie lines, which dates back to 2011 as a follow-up to its Skull and Bones WMD and MOAB cigars, explaining that the name came from people’s transitions to zombies after being exposed “to the radiation from the WMD release.”

The Viaje Zombie Farmhand Andre debuted as a box-pressed robusto measuring 5 1/2 inches long with a 54 ring gauge and came packaged in 10-count bundles. The company did not release any specifics about the blend or the factory that made the cigar, and as of now, has not disclosed details about this year’s release. The cigar debuted with an MSRP of $11 per cigar and $110 for a bundle of 10 cigars.

A representative from Viaje Cigar Co. has not yet replied to an e-mail seeking additional information about the cigars. However, in a social media comment, company founder Andre Farkas said that the cigars are the same blend as the previous release.

Update (Nov. 15, 2023) — Pricing has been confirmed at $11.60 per cigar for the Farmhand Andre and $11.20 for the Zombie Farmhand Andre, while the cigars will return in their original vitolas.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
