Viaje has announced that later this month, it will be releasing another batch of one of its most limited cigar lines, the Friends and Family.

It will return in the Merci vitola, a 5 1/4 x 54 robusto extra vitola that debuted in February 2015 and returned in January 2016. It was the fourth size in the line when it debuted, and has since been joined by a fifth:

Viaje Friends and Family Vitolas

Friends and Family was started as a private blend for company founder Andre Farkas to give to his friends and family, though it became a retail release in 2012. The company has been very tight-lipped about it, declining to disclose any details about the blend or where the cigars are made. This appears to be the first release of the Friends and Family line since October 2018.

A representative from the company has not replied to an e-mail asking for pricing and other details about the cigar.

Update (Sept. 20, 2022) — Pricing for the Friends and Family Merci is set at $240 per box of 15 cigars, or $16 per cigar.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
