H. Upmann (non-Cuban)

After releases in 2016 and 2017, the H. Upmann Ingot name will return to shelves later this month. For this release, it’s a new vitola and a new blend, but it will come in boxes that are designed to look like gold bars.

There are two limited edition sizes of the H. Upmann 180th Anniversary. Both are made by AJ Fernandez using only Nicaraguan tobacco, including a medio tiempo wrapper.

Many of the details sound familiar to how Altadis U.S.A. celebrated the 175th anniversary of H. Upmann: a Nicaraguan puro using a medio tiempo priming for the wrapper made by AJ Fernandez. That said, the blends are said to be different.

Where is my HODL cigar?

The name comes from the German word for barber.

Both of the wrappers on the H. Upmann 1844 Special Edition Barbier come from Ecuador, though they are two different varietals.

The new cigar is inspired by the modern world of banking.

The new line draws on a pair of Ecuadorian wrappers to both give it its design and drive the flavor profile.

Judging a cigar’s strength simply by how dark the wrapper is oftentimes not an accurate projection, but in the case of the very dark H. Upmann Nicaragua AJ Fernandez Heritage, you can judge the book by its cover.
