The U.K.’s next Edición Regional cigar will launch at 47 simultaneous events held throughout the kingdom on Nov. 1.

That cigar is the Por Larrañaga Larrañaga 47 Edición Regional Reino Unido, a 7 x 47 Churchill. It’s the first time the classic vitola has been made for Por Larrañaga.

Pricing is set at £76 ($92.10) per cigar. The Larrañaga 47 comes in cabinets of 50 cigars (£3,638), with production limited to just 1,500 boxes or 75,000 total cigars.

The Edición Regional program is offered by Habanos S.A. to its various distributors around the world. Each year, distributors can select one cigar to be commissioned for their region, though there have been exceptions when some distributors have been able to select more than one. Those cigars must come from a brand that was not part of the company’s former “Global Brands” and must be a size that is currently not offered in that specific brand.

Edición Regional cigars are signified by a secondary red and silver band that reads Edición Regional, followed typically by the name of the region represented by that specific distributor. Oftentimes, the cigars do not arrive at stores during the year they are selected for, sometimes multiple years later. The Larrañaga 47 is classified as part of the 2021 program.

Hunters & Frankau, the Cuban cigar distributor for the U.K., has scheduled 47 different events, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 1. These events will take place at cigar shops and other venues throughout the country. It’s a concept that the company used to introduce the Ramón Allones Allones No.2 in August 2020, when COVID prevented having one large event. Given the success of that event, it’s continuing to use the concept, which it’s branding as #PL47launch.

As part of the events, attendees will be given a glass of Hine Cigar Reserve Cognac to drink alongside the Larrañaga 47.
