After showing off five new products last year, Dapper Cigar Co. decided to bring just one new creation to the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show. However, that singular cigar holds two separate distinctions: not only is it the company’s first limited edition release, but it is also the first time the company has sold a figurado vitola.

Booth-wise, Dapper made some changes for this year’s show, all of which were quite obvious to anyone who visited the company last year. That included not only a substantially larger booth but also a new backdrop and new lighted cabinets for products instead of the stand display that was at the center of the booth last year.

Dapper’s one release this year was created as part of a collaboration with HolySmoke, a Bible study group founded in 2018 that “celebrates the intersection of faith and cigars” by providing “a comfortable environment where individuals can enjoy a cigar and get to know God better through fellowship and discussions about the Bible.”

I have been smoking cigars for over eight years. A documentary wedding photographer by trade, I spent seven years as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I started the cigar blog SmokingStogie in 2008 after realizing that there was a need for a cigar blog with better photographs and more in-depth information about each release. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars. I am a co-founder of halfwheel and now serve as an editor for halfwheel.
