Back in late January, Intertabak AG, the distributor of Habanos S.A. products in Switzerland, showed off the Montecristo L’Esprit, both a new cigar and a series of humidors crafted by S.T.Dupont that celebrates the 150th anniversary of the French humidor and accessories maker. Now, the first humidor in the series, Le Crépuscule, is ready to arrive in stores as it is scheduled to be released to the La Casa del Habano stores and some Habanos Specialist stores next week.

The project is centered around a series of three humidors, called Le Crépuscule, La Nuit and L’Aurore, with 200 of each design produced. The three designs get their names from three different stages of night. Intertabak AG has not yet announced when the other two designs will be released.

Inside each humidor is 50 of the new Montecristo L’Esprit, a robusto extra that measures 5 7/10 inches (145mm) long with a 50 ring gauge, a vitolas that Habanos S.A. refers to as the Preciosos, but which has also been used for the Partagás Maduro No. 3 under the vitola name Maduro No. 3.

“Both Habanos and Dupont are dedicated to elevating craftsmanship to an art form,” said Alain Crevet, ceo of S.T. Dupont, when the project was announced. “Together, we are bringing the very best cigars, and the very best smoking accessories in an exceptional Art de Vivre; this new collaboration with Habanos and Montecristo has been again a pleasure and a flawless experience between our two Maisons.”

Pricing is set at CHF 29,000 ($32,920) per humidor. The humidors and cigars are complemented by a collection of lighters, a cutter and an ashtray that share the theme and design of the corresponding humidor.

“Habanos, S.A. seeks to always partner with leading brands in their markets, with products that offer something unique and different to its customers, in the end, brands that are up to what is considered the best tobacco in the world”, said José María López Inchaurbe, vp of development at Habanos, S.A., via a press release.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
