Until now, the only way to get the Mi Querida Green line was by way of an event-only, 8 1/2 x 52 release called Pataperro. Now, a very limited batch of the blend in a torpedo shape and with a revised blend has gone on sale at Smoke Inn.
The Mi Querida Green No.2 Torpedo measures 6 x 52 and uses a blend that features Connecticut broadleaf shorts for the wrapper, which sit atop Nicaraguan tobacco for the binder and filler. The wrapper is categorized as a ligero leaf, meaning it comes from the upper part of the plant and delivers a more intense flavor and strength level. Smoke Inn says the blend’s profile offers a deep, earthy richness with hints of cocoa and spice.
Steve Saka of Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust created the cigar as a way to make up for the delay of another project called Kildahlton. That project is being created to give Smoke Inn an exclusive after the Red Meat Lovers Club line went national after debuting as a Smoke Inn exclusive. But Kidahlton isn’t ready yet, so Saka offered Smoke Inn’s owner, Abe Dababneh, the option of getting a limited production version of the Mi Querida line, which he accepted. Saka said that the wrapper change and the funnel shape of the vitola makes this cigar notably stronger than Pataperro.
Only 600 bundles of 10 cigars are being produced, with pricing set at $135 per bundle.
As for the future of the Mi Querida Green line, “might release, might be a future event-only cigar, might make another limited drop in the future, might make it an exclusive, might never make them again,” Saka told halfwheel.
