Matilde Cigar Co. is creating a new limited edition that will debut in November via My Cigar Pack and the company’s CigarYard.com online shop, before getting a wider release to retailers in the United States and the Dominican Republic in December.
The cigar is called the Matilde E.L.A., which stands for Edición Limitada America, as it will be limited to retailers in the United States and the Dominican Republic. It is a 6 x 50 toro that uses a Mexican wrapper, a Dominican binder, and Dominican-grown HVA, criollo 98 and piloto tobaccos for the fillers. A press release from Matilde Cigar Co. describes the E.L.A. as being medium in strength and highlighted by a long finish of dried fruits and spices along with aromas of earth and leather.
The project’s roots trace back to early 2021, when Enrique Seijas, co-founder of Matilde Cigar Co., and Alexander Berezowksi, founder of My Cigar Pack, happened to be visiting Hostos Fernandez, owner of TABACALERA LA iSLA. The three have been friends for a while, and when they got together in the factory, the idea for working on a project together was born. Fittingly, the cigar is being produced at TABACALERA LA iSLA.
The Matilde E.L.A. is described as a limited run, though production numbers have not been disclosed.
