In 2020, Joya de Nicaragua introduced a special packaging format for its Antaño line that incorporated the game shut the box into a cigar box. Now, the company has created another special cigar box that incorporates the game sling puck.

Sling puck has two players on opposing sides that try to shoot small pucks through a small hole until all the pucks are on the other player’s side. The pucks are propelled via an elastic band. As you might imagine, Joya de Nicaragua has found a way to incorporate this game into a cigar box.

This particular cigar box will hold 20 cigars, 10 each of the Antaño Gran Reserva GT20 (6 x 54) and Antaño CT Toro (6 x 50). Both are existing regular production cigars, though the Antaño Power Play Sling Puck is limited to 2,000 boxes, of which 1,400 are designated for the U.S.

The MSRP is set at $255.75 per box.

“Building on the success of Antaño Shut the Box, we learned that cigar enthusiasts are keen to combine their cigars with fun,” said Juan Ignacio Martínez, executive president of Joya de Nicaragua, in a press release. “This time we’ve merged the profiles of their favourite Nicaraguan puros into one game, teasing their tastebuds with contrasting flavors.”

The box is produced by HumidifGroup and includes the company’s NFC technology.

“It has been an absolute joy to collaborate with Nicaragua’s oldest cigar manufacturer,” said Pedro Balgañon, ceo and owner of HumidifGroup. “This project brings our smart packaging to life, driving innovation in the cigar industry, while honoring the legacy and rich history of this cherished tradition.”

Joya de Nicaragua says it will begin shipping the Antaño Power Play Sling Puck in September.

Update (July 7, 2023) — Joya de Nicaragua issued a correction to the price specified in the press release it sent earlier today, and the correction has been made in the article above.

Update (July 25, 2023) — Joya de Nicaragua has clarified that there will be 2,000 boxes of the Power Play Sling Puck. Of the 2,000, 1,400 boxes will go to the U.S, while 600 will be sent to international markets.
