This is the second year at the IPCPR Convention & Trade Show for Vintage Rock-A-Feller Cigar Group under the ownership of Kevin Schweitzer, who acquired the company in January 2017.

While he isn’t introducing any new products this year, he is bringing back the 7 x 38 lancero vitola in the Nicaraguan-made maduro line. It was last made in late 2014 or early 2015—before Schweitzer took over the company—and he began shipping the new batch this past spring. After a backorder situation, he’s got more in stock and ready to head to retailers, with an MSRP of $11.95 per cigar.

While there wasn’t new product per se, Schweitzer had a cool incentive for retailers placing orders: a new gold-brick ashtray with a removable lid that can hold three cigars, or you can stash more in the base if you want. He says there’s a better than decent chance it will be available for consumers in the not-too-distant future.

One note: it’s not made of wood, metal, plastic, gold or anything you might think would be used to make an ashtray.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
