It continues to be a busy time of year for new Habanos S.A. cigars making their debut, and another one has just been added to the calendar as the Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo de Rio Seco will make its debut on Saturday in Lebanon.

Phoenicia Trading A.A., the exclusive distributor of Habanos S.A. products in the region, will host a preview event of the new cigar for approximately 600 guests on Sept. 29 at the Laguava Resort in Rmeileh.

The Le Hoyo de Rio Seco is a robusto extra in a brand new vitola called the Armorosos, which measures 5 1/2 inches long (140mm) with a 56 ring gauge that adds to the thicker ring gauge offerings in the Serie Le Hoyo, joining the Le Hoyo de San Juan, a 5 9/10 x 54 robusto extra that debuted in 2014. While it may be a beefier size, Habanos S.A. says calls it “a very attractive option for lovers of delicate, aromatic Habanos of lower strength,” while also noting its complexity and elegant vitola.

The Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo de Rio Seco will be available in both 10- and 25-count boxes. A global release date has not yet been announced, nor has pricing. E-mails sent to Phoenicia T.A.A. Cyprus LTD about availability in the region have not yet been returned.

This is the latest in a number of such product launches to have happened recently; just this week the Hoyo de Monterrey Escogidos debuted in Warsaw, Poland, while the Romeo y Julieta Tacos Edición Limitada 2018 got its launch in Spain. The San Cristóbal de la Habana Prado is set to debut next month in Bulgaria, while new Edición Regional releases have arrived in Canada, Germany and France.

Additionally, it was just announced that the Festival del Habano XXI will be taking place a week earlier than normal next February, and now will occur during the same week as the Procigar Festival in the Dominican Republic.

Correction: Habanos S.A. had originally indicated that the cigar would be sold exclusively through La Casa del Habano locations, however they have since issued a correction and the cigar will be available at all retailers carrying Habanos S.A. products.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
