Starting today, you can register for next month’s Festival del Habano XXIV, which will take place Feb. 25-March 1 in Havana, Cuba.

The annual Festival del Habano, the Cuban cigar festival, serves as the marquee event for the Cuban cigar world, during which Habanos S.A. shows off most new cigars and hosts events like International Habanos World Challenge, a trade fair, tastings, and others.

In addition, there will be specific celebrations honoring the 30th anniversary of Habanos S.A., the 50th anniversary of the Quai d’Orsay brand and the 55th anniversary of the Trinidad marca.

Historically, Habanos S.A. has opened registration for the event many months before, oftentimes in the preceding November. However, last year, the registration opened 40 days before the event and this year, the company has given attendees only 27 days to register for the event.

The 2024 pricing is slightly up from 2023, but not a dramatic jump in pricing like what was seen last year:

  • Welcome Evening — €530 ($574) — Event commemorating the 30th anniversary of Habanos S.A. to be held at Club Havana
  • Visit to Plantations in the Pinar del Río region — €170 ($184)
  • International Seminar — €425 ($460)
  • Mid-week Evening — €745 ($807)— Event celebrating 50th anniversary of Quai D’Orsay brand to be held at the El Laguito Protocol Room
  • Visit to Habanos Factories — €200 ($216)
  • Gala Evening — €1,325 ($1,436) — Dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the Trinidad brand to be held at Pabexpo

As has been the case for previous years, the final night’s activities will include not only the presentation of the Habanos Awards but also the extremely popular auction of elaborate humidors, with proceeds going to the Cuban Public Health System. Last year, the auction generated a record €11.22 million—roughly $11.89 million USD at the time of the auction—in combined sales. This shattered the Cuban cigar conglomerate’s previous auction record of €4.27 million ($4.71 million at that time) in 2020. A single Cohiba humidor was sold for €4.2 million ($4.45 million)—itself almost equalling the entire 2020 auction—making it the most expensive humidor ever sold at auction.

In order to bid, a €200 ($217) registration fee is required.

Tickets can be purchased through the event’s website.

I have been smoking cigars for over eight years. A documentary wedding photographer by trade, I spent seven years as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I started the cigar blog SmokingStogie in 2008 after realizing that there was a need for a cigar blog with better photographs and more in-depth information about each release. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars. I am a co-founder of halfwheel and now serve as an editor for halfwheel.
