Crowned Heads is releasing a new size of Le Pâtissier and the only way for retailers to get it is to place orders at next month’s 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show.
The Le Pâtissier No. 2 is a 6 1/8 x 52 torpedo that uses the same blend as the regular production Le Pâtissier: a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Costa Rica and Nicaragua. As with the other sizes, it is made at Nicaragua American Cigars S.A. (NACSA) in Estelí, Nicaragua.
Each cigar has an MSRP of $13 per cigar. To help delineate it from the regular production vitolas, it will come in a black 20-count box; the regular production sizes come in a creme-colored box with blue accents. Crowned Heads says this cigar will be made a limited production item—as opposed to a limited edition—but only for retailers that place orders in-person during the trade show.
Crowned Heads says it will ship the Le Pâtissier No. 2 in August.
“It’s a rarity that we’ve released a figurado in our portfolio,” said Jon Huber, co-founder of Crowned Heads, in a press release. “To this day, the only torpedo we’ve produced on a regular production basis goes back to our original Four Kicks Piramide dating back to 2011. Having said that, I’ve always been enamored with the classic torpedo vitola since I began smoking cigars almost
thirty years ago, like the Montecristo No. 2 and the H. Upmann No. 2, both considered classic Cuban cigars. We always strive to bring something special to our PCA Exclusive, so we felt the Le Pâtissier No. 2 was a good fit.”
Note: The following shows the various Le Pâtissier releases over the years. Some of these cigars may have been released after this review was originally published. The list was last updated on Sept. 24, 2022.
- Le Pâtissier (6 1/2 x 44) — December 2021 — Limited Edition
- Le Pâtissier No. 50 (4 3/8 x 50) — August 2022 — Regular Production
- Le Pâtissier No. 54 (5 3/8 x 54) — August 2022 — Regular Production
- Le Pâtissier Canonazo (5 7/8 x 52) — August 2022 — Regular Production
- Le Pâtissier Senadores (6 1/8 x 48) — August 2022 — Regular Production
Le Pâtissier debuted in 2020 in a limited edition lonsdale size; last summer, Crowned Heads made Le Pâtissier a regular production line with four sizes, though the lonsdale is not one of them. Last fall, the company announced the four regular production sizes for the brand would move factories from Tabacalera Pichardo to NACSA. This is the first new size to be added since production changed factories.
The 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show takes place July 8-11 in Las Vegas.
