Cigar Dagger, which launched in 2019 as an accessory company producing cigar nubbers and picks, has announced that it is getting into the cigar business with a pair of lines, Royal Blood and Birthright.

Royal Blood uses a Connecticut-grown broadleaf wrapper, Mexican San Andrés binder, and a filler that includes ligero from Pennsylvania and Nicaragua, along with piloto cubano and corojo of undisclosed origin.

Royal Blood is offered in a 6 x 54 toro vitola priced at $13.49 per cigar and $269.80 for a box of 20 cigars, as well as a 5 x 52 robusto priced at $12.49 per cigar and $249.80 per box of 20 cigars.

Birthright starts with an undisclosed filler blend, then adds an Indonesian binder and finishes the cigar off with an Ecuadorian habano-seed wrapper.

The Birthright comes priced at $13 for the 6 x 50 toro, while 10-count boxes, which include a 4-in-1 drawer tool, are priced at $139.95. A limited edition 6 x 44 corona vitola is also available, priced at $9.49 per cigar and $47.45 for a pack of five cigars.

“After the success of Cigar Dagger, having our own cigar line seemed like the logical next step in the evolution of our brand,” said Harout Kalandjian, president of Cigar Dagger, in a press release. “We have worked towards the release of Royal Blood and Birthright for the last two years and we couldn’t be more thrilled with every aspect of these cigars from their complex flavor profiles to their robust construction and captivating aesthetics. They’re an absolute pleasure to smoke.”

Kalandjian describes both blends as being full-flavored and medium-to-full in strength. He added that the company is planning to have a third line released by the end of the year, with another line being worked on for next spring.

Both cigars are produced by Tabacalera El Artista in the Dominican Republic. They recently debuted at KingOfTheLeaf.com, and will be shipping to additional retailers this Friday, Sept. 8.

Beyond cigars, Cigar Dagger currently offers more than 100 designs of its daggers, including hand-casted heads of personas inspired by history, mythology, fantasy, sci-fi, and cigar culture. The company also offers cutters, lighters, cigar scissors, ashtrays, cigar stands and rests, cigar cases, apparel and other accessories.

According to a press release, Cigar Dagger has distribution in North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
