The latest installments of Alec Bradley’s St. Patrick’s Day-themed cigars are on their way to retailers today.

Scandinavian Tobacco Group’s Forged Cigar Co. has begun shipping the Filthy Hooligan and Filthy Hooligan Shamrock, which are offshoots of the Alec Bradley Black Market line. The Filthy Hooligan uses two wrapper leaves to create its barber pole design: a Honduran candela and a Nicaraguan habano oscuro leaf. The Filthy Hooligan Shamrock, meanwhile, uses three wrapper leaves, adding a Nicaraguan habano claro shade wrapper to create a three-striped design.

Both cigars use an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder, while the fillers come from Honduras and Panama. Production is handled by Tabacos de Oriente in Danlí, Honduras.

The two cigars are each offered in a 6 x 50 toro vitola, but their packaging and pricing are different. The Filthy Hooligan is priced at $12.69 per cigar and offered in 24-count boxes, while the Filthy Hooligan Shamrock is priced at $15.09 per cigar and offered in 10-count boxes. For this year’s release, both cigars are limited to 5,000 boxes.

“Anticipation continues to build each year for the release of Filthy Hooligan and Filthy Hooligan Shamrock,” said Bradley Rubin, brand ambassador for Alec Bradley, via a press release. “With their bright green wrappers and fresh herbal notes, these candela smokes offer a great change of pace at a time when spring’s on everyone’s mind. The blends have become part of the cigar community’s annual ritual and we’re pleased that we have once again been able to source the perfect aged candela wrapper to make this year’s release a reality.”

This marks the sixth release of the Filthy Hooligan Shamrock and the 12th release of the Filthy Hooligan.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
