There will be a new member of Vector’s Icon family of lighters, and it will be a flat flame.

Over the weekend, the company sent out an email announcing the Icon IV, though it has thus far provided no details about it, whether it be pricing or a release date. The only thing the company has released so far is a picture of the lighter in what is referred to as the Prizm color way, something that has been featured among several of Vector’s lighters.

As the number four would suggest, this is the fourth in the Icon series, which is considered the company’s flagship line. Like its predecessors, the Vector Icon IV features a touch-sensitive ignition panel that combines a traditional butane torch lighter with a USB-rechargeable battery, while swapping out a traditional piezo ignition for an electric one. When the sensor is touched, it triggers a series of electric sparks that ignites the butane that starts flowing when the lid is opened.

The original Vector Icon is a triple flame torch that debuted in 2018, with the flames arranged in a straight line and the outer flames angled inwards. In September 2020, the company announced the Icon II and Icon III; the Icon II is an updated triple-flame torch lighter, with three torches arranged in a triangular design to create a more powerful central flame, while the Icon III is a quad-flame, tabletop-size torch lighter.

Update (Aug. 6, 2021) — The company has told halfwheel that it is aiming for an early October release date for the Icon IV.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
