Cigars are used as a celebratory device quite often; the birth of a child, a championship game won, weddings, and lastly something that the cigar industry is quite fond of: anniversaries. Joya de Nicaragua created the Dos Cientos to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua declaring their independence from the Spanish empire.
The Dos Cientos is the fourth line in Joya de Nicaragua’s ultra-premium series called the Obras Maestras. It should come as no surprise that another one of the Obras Maestras series is gracing our Top 25, as other releases have made the list both in 2018 and 2020, the latter of which included three different Obras Maestras cigars.
With nearly identical scores from all four of us, it’s easy to say that we all agreed the Dos Cientos’ smooth profile with balanced, nuanced flavors takes a well-deserved fourth place on our 2021 list. — Brian Burt.
