Tatuajes are no strangers to the halfwheel Top 25—the T110 Capa Especial took third place in 2021 and Tatuaje was #1 and #2 in 2020—though the Tatuaje 20th Anniversary Grand Chasseur is the only cigar on this year’s list. It is one of two cigars in a new regular production line released to commemorate the company’s 20th anniversary.

On paper, the blend of the Grand Chasseur is similar to Tatuaje’s Seleccion de Cazador line—otherwise known as the Brown Label line due to the color of its bands—but we found the Grand Chasseur’s profile to be noticeably bolder in nature. While three of the four reviewers mentioned issues with construction, one reviewer described the cigar’s profile as “a Brown Label in a tuxedo” while another praised its refined flavors.

With that said, the final scores were a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde situation for Tatuaje, pun definitely intended. The Grand Chasseur tied for first on one reviewer’s list, while another reviewer scored it in last place. In addition, a third reviewer gave it his third-worst score, while the last reviewer gave it a good enough score to make it into his top 10.

Despite the scores being all over the map, the combination of vibrant flavors and refined profile was enough for the Tatuaje 20th Anniversary Grand Chasseur to place 24th on this year’s list. — Brooks Whittington.
