While Saint Luis Rey may not be a name you’re overly familiar with, Altadis U.S.A. decided 2021 was a good year to release a new blend under the brand. Regardless of popularity, it turned out to be a great idea, as the Saint Luis Rey Carenas Toro garners spot 23 on our list.

The interesting thing about this cigar is that despite problems staying lit, the rich profile full of a wide range of impressive notes was still good enough to place it in our top 25. Usually, with our top 25 cigars, the race is tight enough that significant burn issues would easily drop it low enough to not even place, but the scores in the flavor column kept the Carenas Toro in the running. — Brian Burt.
