Time Out Cigars, which made its debut at the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show, has begun shipping Lumpia, a new limited production release that it featured at this year’s PCA Convention & Trade Show.

The cigar is a Nicaraguan puro, with a habano maduro wrapper and filler from the volcanic island of Ometepe, while other tobacco in the blend comes from Condega and Jalapa. The cigar is produced by Origen Cigars S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua, with Origen also growing the tobacco for the cigar.

It is offered in a 3 1/2 x 48 vitola, priced at $7.40 per cigar and offered in five-packs priced at $37. It’s a size designed to replicate the food item for which it is named, as lumpia is a type of spring roll associated with Indonesia and the Phillippines.

Production is currently being limited to just 2,500 cigars per year. The company is expecting that more cigars will be released later this year, but has not yet announced a date.

The cigars made their debut in early March at Underground Cigars Shop’s NFG2024 and are now getting a widespread release.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
