A trio of new limited releases from La Aurora is arriving on shelves in the U.S.
This week, retailers have taken delivery of the new Fernando Léon Limited Edition Belicoso, La Aurora Hors d’Age 2020 and La Aurora Puro Vintage 2008. Each is a limited edition release and comes with a price tag of more than $25.
The Fernando Léon Limited Edition Belicoso is a new blend, named after Fernando León, the late owner of La Aurora. What’s most intriguing about this 6 1/4 x 52 belicoso is that the corojo wrapper was actually purchased by León before he passed away in 2009. Underneath the wrapper is an Ecuadorian binder and fillers from four countries: Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Peru.
It has an MSRP of $28 per cigar and is limited to 150 boxes of 15 cigars.
The La Aurora Hors d’Age is once again offered in two sizes. This time, it’s the La Aurora Hors d’Age 2020, meaning that the cigars were rolled last year using tobacco that was at least 12-years-old. Ecuadorian tobacco is used for the wrapper and binder while the fillers are from Colombia, Dominican Republic and Nicaragua.
The Toro is limited to 500 boxes, while the Gran Toro is limited to 150 jars.
- La Aurora Hors d’Age 2020 Toro (5 3/4 x 54) — $26 (Jar of 15, $390)
- La Aurora Hors d’Age 2020 Gran Toro (6 x 58) — $26 (Box of 30, $780)
Finally, the company is releasing the La Aurora Puro Vintage 2008, which uses tobacco from the 2008 harvest. The 6 1/2 x 50/60 perfecto uses tobacco from the Cibao Valley, Domincian Republic for both the wrapper and binder, while the fillers come from Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic and Nicaragua.
It’s limited to 1,000 boxes of eight cigars and has an MSRP of $26.50 per cigar.
All three releases were expected in September.
Miami Cigar & Co. is the U.S. distributor for La Aurora.
