Plasencia Cigars

Each box includes 10 cigars, eight of them are normal-looking while two are twisted together to make a culebra. After all, it is El Año de la Culebra.

The company says that the 6 x 54 figurado offers a new way to experience the Honduran puro. Only 500 boxes of 10 cigars are being produced for the release, which is scheduled to ship to retailers later this month.

Yesterday, Oct. 8, Néstor Plasencia Sr. celebrated his 75th birthday. Plasencia Cigars is releasing a special cigar to mark the occasion, but it’s not for sale.

For its entry into the $100 cigar market, Plasencia created what it says is the first cigar to use wrapper from the volcanic island of Ometepe in Lake Nicaragua. It’s a departure from the blend of the regular production line, which is known for showcasing the island’s unique terroir.

This is the fourth vitola in the Cosecha 149 line, which was made with the company’s 149th crop of tobacco. When the line debuted in 2021, it was Plasencia’s first Honduran puro released under its company name.

Plasencia has changed the 5 1/2 x 54 Guajiro vitola from round to box-pressed. The new versions began heading to stores in mid-June.

Plasencia says this is the first cigar that uses wrapper grown on the volcanic island of Ometepe, Nicaragua. Each cigar comes packaged in a unique glass tube.

The figurado vitola is the fourth vitola for the regular production line.

Like the rest of the Cosecha 149 line, the new Honduran puro uses tobacco from the 2014 tobacco harvest, which was the Plasencia family’s 149th.

My list of favorites includes the predictable, something that will require your imagination and something that requires a bit of luck.

This is the fourth consecutive year that Plasencia has released a cigar for Chinese New Year.
