This 6 3/4 x 54 torpedo vitola and its Natural wrapper counterpart were offered to stores who placed orders during a trade show in July 2023. The 97 part of the name references what would have been the 97th birthday of the company’s founder, the late José O. Padrón.

Like it did for its 50th anniversary, Padrón turned to S.T. Dupont for a limited run of accessories to celebrate its 60th anniversary. While the majority of the items began shipping in October, the two most expensive items began shipping today.

Coles of London—S.T. Dupont’s U.S. distributor—says that the Padrón 60th Anniversary collection has arrived at its Charlotte warehouse and is ready to start shipping. There are five different lighters, one cutter and one ashtray. All but the two most expensive lighters have started shipping.

While the Padrón Black is still one of the company’s most secretive lines, this year saw what is likely the most widespread release for the series to date. Retailers that placed orders during the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show were given the chance to purchase the Padrón Black PB-97.

The company will mark its 60th anniversary on Sun., Sept. 8, and as Jorge Padrón hoped would happen, the first batch of celebratory cigars are on their way to stores. It’s a new blend for the company, offered in a round perfecto vitola, something that sets it apart from the company’s other higher-end cigars.

If your next Padrón looks a bit different, don’t worry. The company has consolidated its two-band design to a single-band.
