Four-and-a-half years after releasing the Last Cowboy Limited Edition as a limited edition release to Mardo Cigars, Sinistro is bringing the cigar back for another limited release that is available to all of its retailers and will begin shipping in mid-September.

Nearly all of the details from the original release remain the same, meaning a 6 1/2 x 56 toro gordo that uses a Connecticut broadleaf maduro wrapper, a Mexican San Andrés binder, and Dominican piloto cubano and Nicaraguan tobacco in the filler, a blend created by James Agopian of Sinistro Cigars. The company did not previously disclose that there was Nicaraguan tobacco in the filler, nor did it identify the country of origin for the piloto cubano. And like the original release, the Limited Edition version does not get the candela-wrapped foot that is found on the regular production Last Cowboy line, which came out in October 2018.

The packaging that made these cigars notable is back as well as the 14 cigars inside are divided into two groups of seven with each cigar wrapped in red paper and then bound together with black ribbons, and with long, fuse-style caps that are twisted together to replicate the look of dynamite. It’s also a nod to the graphic on the box lid of how the Last Cowboy is lighting his cigar.

One thing that has changed is the factory that produced the cigars. While the original batch was produced by La Aurora Cigar Factory, this latest production comes from Tabacalera El Artista, which is also located in the Dominican Republic.

The cigars also have a higher MSRP than the original, as this release is priced at $230 per box of 14 cigars, or $16.43 per cigar. A total of 400 boxes have been produced, updated to say Limited Edition 2023, which is a decrease from the original release of 500 boxes, which were priced at $200 when they came out in 2019.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
