Room101’s The Big Payback Maduro line is bringing back a beefy size from its past, as its 7 x 70 vitola has returned and is on its way to stores today.

Officially called the Room101 The Big Payback 70s Maduro uses the same blend as the other four sizes in the line, with a U.S.-grown broadleaf wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Honduras and the Dominican Republic. It is produced at STG Danlí in Honduras.

Unlike the other sizes in the line, The Big Payback 70s Maduro gets its own branding, with blue and yellow bands and box art. Pricing is set at $8.99 per cigar, while a box of 30 cigars costs $269.70.

The 7 x 70 vitola had been out of production for The Big Payback lines since 2016, returning in June 2023 to join The Big Payback’s revamped core line, which uses a Honduran Olancho San Agustín wrapper over a Connecticut broadleaf binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic, Honduras and Nicaragua.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
