Effective June 1, Matilde Cigar Co. will now be distributed by Quesada Cigars.

While the move is a big backend change, most retailers and consumers likely won’t notice a difference. With the exception of the West Coast, the independent sales representatives used by Quesada are the same ones Matilde previously had employed.

Cigar Aficionado first reported news of the deal.

Matilde is the brand of the Seijas family, established in 2013 after José Seijas left Altadis. The company operates its Tabacalera Matilde factory in La Romana, Dominican Republic. So far, it has released one line—Renacer.

In the U.S., Quesada Cigars distributes its own cigars under the Quesada, Casa Magna, Fonseca names and Cubita, along with Regius and Trelos Psaria by Charlie Moore.

A representative from Quesada declined to comment, while an email sent to a representative of Matilde was not immediately replied to.
