The 2022 release of the Punch Rare Corojo will include a new 6 1/8 x 40/54 perfecto called Aristocrat.
This size was originally made by Frank Llaneza, once responsible for the non-Cuban Punch brand, and modeled after a baseball bat in honor of Red Auerbach and Art Rooney. The Punch Rare Corojo Aristocrat will have an MSRP of $9.99 per cigar and will come in boxes of 20.
“The ‘Aristocrat’ size was almost forgotten. Lucky for us, as we were looking back in the archives of Punch, we learned that this size hadn’t been made in decades,” said Ed Lahmann, senior brand manager for Punch, in a press release. “Further digging in the factory turned up 80 molds for this special size which is just what we needed for a limited edition smoke. This is our way of giving a nod to Punch Rare Corojo’s 20 year reign as the original seasonal cigar and paying tribute to the roots of the brand.”
General Cigar Co. announced the size on the Punch brand’s social media accounts and a representative for the company said a formal announcement will come next week. The Punch Rare Corojo is an annual release that typically arrives in February though retailers can order the cigars throughout the spring. Over the years, General Cigar Co. has offered a long list of different vitolas and oftentimes will introduce a new vitola as a limited edition for just one year.
Historically, the blend uses an Ecuadorian Sumatran wrapper over a Connecticut broadleaf binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic, Honduras and Nicaragua. The cigar is made at the STG Danlí factory in Honduras.
