The Protocol Taser, the third collaboration between Cubariqueño Cigar Co. and Cigar Dojo, is set to be released later this month.

The cigar is a 5 x 52 robusto that uses a Nicaraguan habano cafe wrapper, Nicaraguan habano binder and fillers that include visos from Nicaragua’s Estelí and Ometepe regions, and ligero from Pennsylvania. The cigar is produced at the La Zona Cigar Factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, and are rolled with a unique double rabito head that resembles the two electrodes of a Taser weapon.

The Protocol Taser has an MSRP of $9 cigar and $89.95 per 10-count bundle. A total of 500 bundles have been produced and will go on sale on March 26 via Smoke Inn. The retailer will hold an in-person release event at its Boynton Beach location with Juan Cancel, co-founder of Cubariqueño Cigar Co. The cigars will go on sale for Cigar Dojo members at 12 pm EDT, with any remaining cigars being made available to the public at 12:30 pm EDT.

“I have been a member of the Cigar Dojo community from early on,” said Cancel, via a press release. “My love for Cigar Dojo has grown with every passing year. The Taser is our third collaboration with them and it is a dream come true. It is phenomenal what we have accomplished together. The best is yet to come!”

The two companies had previously collaborated on the Protocol K9 in 2018 and the Protocol Night Stick in 2019. The collaboration has drawn from the various assets to at the disposal to law enforcement for the names of its releases.

“When the Dojo and Protocol collaborate, it’s electric,” said Eric Guttormson, owner of Cigar Dojo. “The Taser has a shocking and unique blend that is the perfect followup to the Night Stick and K9,” he added.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
