Pete Johnson Teases Tatuaje Mission Pipe Shop CQ2, Return of Little Boris

Pete Johnson has confirmed that a pair of Tatuaje’s most sought-after cigars will be making a return. On the Oct. 4 episode of Cigar Dojo’s Smoke Night Live show, Johnson said that the Mission Pipe Shop CQ1 will return as the CQ2, while providing an update on the much-anticipated return of Little Boris.

The Tatuaje Mission Pipe Shop CQ1 was a shop exclusive made for Mission Pipe Shop in San Jose, Calif. that was released in 2013 and has become a near cult favorite among Tatuaje fans both for its flavor and scarcity. It’s a 5 3/4 x 52 belicoso that uses an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler. The first release was limited to just 500 boxes of 10 cigars.

Johnson said that he will be making about 1,000 more boxes of 10 cigars, and while Mission Pipe Shop will get the bulk of the release, he added that he will be making a limited amount available to 25 other shops of his choosing. No release date for that project has been announced, other than that it will occur in 2019.

The Tatuaje Little Boris was another shop exclusive, this time for Corona Cigar Co. in Orlando, Fla. A 5 1/2 x 49 robusto, it was based on The Boris, a 7 x 49 double corona, that was released as part of Tatuaje’s planned Actors Series, a sister series of the popular Monster Series that was shelved after the one release. Like its bigger sibling, the Little Boris used an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper and Nicaraguan fillers. He said it will be arriving in November,

In May, Johnson posted a picture of the cigar on Instagram and confirmed to halfwheel that it would be returning, but declined to go into further details about it. Johnson told halfwheel that no further details about the CQ2 or Little Boris are currently available.
