PCA 2023: Segovias de Estelí
After going through a rebranding in 2020, Segovias de Estelí—formerly known as Antigua Estelí Cigars—said it used the next two years to concentrate on a complete restructuring of the company, maintaining the quality of its products and making sure that existing customers were well taken care of during the transition. Art Garcia, ceo and president of Segovias de Estelí, told me that while the process was a long one, he believes that his company has ended up in a much better place after the experience.
Segovias de Estelí did not exhibit at the PCA Convention & Trade Show in 2021 nor 2022, but for this year’s show the company was part of the Boutique Cigar Association of America’s (BCA) pavilion, which brought together 16 smaller cigar companies into a large, shared area, in part to lower the overall cost of exhibiting at the PCA 2023. In terms of design, the booth was visually very similar to the others in the pavilion: an intimate display table with shelving attached where the company’s cigars were being shown off.
As part of the aforementioned company rebranding, Segovias de Estelí decided to reintroduce two of its blends, which now carry the names Segvoias Habano Oscuro and Segovias San Andres Maduro. All of the cigars are made at the company’s factory, Tabacalera Segovias De Esteli, S.A. located in Estelí, Nicaragua.
Segvoias Habano Oscuro
According to Garcia, the first batch of both cigars with the new branding will have two years of age on them when they ship to retailers next month.

As is the case with the rest of the cigars in Segovias de Estelí’s portfolio, these cigars are blended with two different binders.
