Segovias de Esteli Cigars, which was previously known as Antigua Esteli Cigars, has announced that this summer will see the return of its Segovias line.

The lines have been on hiatus since 2020 as the company underwent its renaming and rebranding process. Now they are back with the same vitolas and blends as the originals.

For the Segvoias Maduro, that means a Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper atop a dual binder that uses Nicaraguan and Mexican tobacco, while the fillers come from Nicaragua. It is being offered in two sizes:

  • Segovias Maduro Robusto — $12 (Box of 21, $252)
  • Segovias Maduro Semi-Box Press Toro — $16 (Box of 21, $336)

The Segovias Habano Oscuro uses an Ecuadorian habano oscuro leaf, while the binder and filler are the same as those used on the Segovias Maduro. It is also being offered in two sizes:

  • Segvoias Habano Oscuro Robusto — $12 (Box of 21, $252)
  • Segovias Habano Oscuro Torpedo — $15 (Box of 21, $315)

Art Garcia, ceo and president of Segovias de Estelí, describes his cigars as having a volcanic, robust taste and aroma due to their Nicaraguan tobacco. He calls them medium to full-bodied, and like the originals, this new production offers “a rich, dark and hearty smoke, boasts notes of earth, chocolate and leather with hints of nuts and spice that increase in intensity throughout your smoking experience.”

The first batch of cigars, which are being released on August 7, will have two years of age on them, according to Garcia. The Segovias line is produced at Tabacalera Segovias De Esteli, S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
