In 2021, RoMa Craft Tobac was one of a whole host of companies that did not attend the PCA Convention and Trade Show. A year later, RoMa Craft decided to man a scaled-back booth, primarily to show support for the organization.

Their setup in 2021 had just four chairs, and a small space to chat with retailers.

While still not back to the same square footage as the 2019 show, this year’s RoMa Craft booth looks more like its normal self. There are some heavy-duty banner holders, cigars on display, and multiple areas to hold meetings with retailers. It is apparent that these spaces are necessary. When I stopped by, the booth was bombarded with retailers wanting to talk to all the various reps and brands housed inside the booth.

Quinquagenario

Pronounced kwin-kwah-jin-ar-ee-oh, the translation is in his fifties. The Quinquagenario is a celebration of Skip Martin’s 50th birthday and, of note, the first RoMa Craft cigar to have been produced at someone else’s factory. Teaming up with Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Jr., Martin looked for unique tobaccos to make up the blend that is being produced at Perez-Carrillo Jr.’s Tabacalera La Alianza S.A. in the Dominican Republic.

  • Wrapper: Ecuador (Sumatra)
  • Binder: Dominican Republic
  • Filler: Dominican Republic
  • Quinquagenario (5 x 50) — $15 (Boxes of 24, $360)

Production: 2,000 Boxes of 24 Cigars (50,000 Total Cigars)*

Release Date: Late July/Early August 2023

*Initial production is 2,000 boxes of 24 cigars, with at least another 2,000 bundles expected to be released in the future.

I have been smoking cigars since 2005 and reviewing them as a hobby since 2010. Initially, I started out small with a 50-count humidor and only smoking one or two cigars a month. Not knowing anybody else that smoked cigars, it was only an occasional hobby that I took part in. In March of 2010, I joined Nublive and Cigar Asylum, connecting me with many people who also shared an interest in cigars. Reading what they had to say about brands I had never heard of, I quickly immersed myself in the boutique brands of the industry and it was then that cigars transformed from a hobby into a passion.
